The mission of the Milford Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) is to serve the needs of students, school, and community.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Membership in local chapters is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by a Faculty Council and is based on outstanding scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities.

Students become eligible for membership consideration upon completion of their third semester of high school. Scholarship is the initial criteria for membership: students must possess a GPA of 3.8 or higher (on a 5.0 basis) to be considered for membership. Students who meet the scholarship requirements are provided an application for NHS membership. The application provides the student an opportunity to document their involvement in activities / activities at school and in the community that demonstrate their leadership, service, and character.

Certain discipline issues, such as placement in ISS or DAEP or expulsion from school, will automatically prevent a student from consideration for membership.

Final selection of members will be made by the appointed Faculty Council based upon information in the application and experience with the student in the classroom. Students selected will be formally inducted in the spring semester.
